Marten/Fisher Hunting Deer

This vampire baby elk is being chased by a marten and besides running around, there isn’t much it can do to the marten. The marten grabs it by the throat under the watchful eye of its mother and chokes it to death, without the elk’s mother trying to defend it. When fully grown, the Formosan Muntjac weighs around twenty-five pounds and looks like a medium- to the large-sized brown dog. It's a little bigger than a Marten, but that doesn't bother this yellow-throated Marten in the least. This Marten keeps running around the Formosan and if I didn’t know better, I would think they were playing and having fun like most kindergarten children do at the park. But once the fun and games are over, the marten jumps the Formosan and bites deeply into its skin, making the Formosan scream in pain. The Formosan jumps up and manages to rid itself of the marten, but only for a few seconds until the marten delivers the deadly blow and kills the Formosan. Here is something enjoyable that we don’t get to see too often, a fox chasing a fisher. The fisher is positioned higher up on the tree, while the fox waits at the bottom of the tree. The fisher finally takes the jump and runs, with the fox in pursuit, right behind him. The fisher looks more like he’s playing with the fox than running away from him.

Mink Attack On Squirrel

Normally, mink can quickly dispatch their prey, but this rock squirrel put up quite a fight and took much longer than usual, to succumb. Minks are very good at subduing dangerous prey while avoiding being bitten. The mink was able to dispatch of the squirrel without receiving so much as one noticeable scratch. The poor squirrel fought for its life, but I guess it came up short. A ferret jumps into a ditch to attack a squirrel. The squirrel tries to escape, but the ferret attacks the squirrel’s neck and holds on to it. The battle is long and grueling as the squirrel tries to fight back, but in the end, the ferret will most probably triumph. The ermine in this video ran off, disappeared under a large rock about 100 feet away, and then reappeared at the near end of the tunnel the squirrels had dug in the snow. Notice that the body size of the squirrel is about the same as the ermine, but the ermine effortlessly lifts the squirrel's body high enough, so it can scamper up a hillside with the body not hitting the ground. That's an amazing feat if you ask me. An ermine attacks a squirrel in the deep snow.

The weasel is so white, it’s hard to see it until it jumps on the squirrel. It’s a violent fight and this squirrel is giving the ermine a run for his money. The people filming this had been finding empty cages in the mornings, with blood all over. Most days it was just the red squirrels they were catching. It was kind of creepy until they saw what was going on. They didn't imagine ermines were this strong or smart! This mink mother has responsibilities and one of them is to feed her young. Look at her as she carries a ground squirrel that’s nearly as big as she is, across a ditch to feed her offspring. It’s beautiful to watch the maternal love and responsibility these animals have for their little ones. A man looking out a window witnessed what he thought was a black squirrel rushing through the woods, colliding with a Fox Squirrel, resulting in a tragic conflict. As he stood there watching them flop around and whirl in a circle like they were in a cartoon battle, he wondered why squirrels would fight on the ground. They usually run up and down trees chasing each other. So, he stepped outside to get a better look, and it appeared to be a gigantic mink kicking the squirrel's buttocks.
